LIVE THE DREAM

Welcome to the Oxford UK Chapter Harley Owners Group

COVID-19 STATEMENT

Dear Chapter Member and visitors,

As a chapter we have a duty of care to our members and also the public at large. With this in mind we are keeping up to date with the latest advice from Public Health England and will act accordingly.

With heavy hearts we also have to postpone the Jake Spicer Toy Run, but we might look to hold this later in the year as it is such a popular event.

It is also with heavy hearts that we have also now had to take the decision to postpone The Big Chill Rally to 2021, please see the rally page for more information.

We will keep you informed as we have updates.

In the meantime, feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions.

Best Wishes

 Ian

Director

Covid-19 Update 09.08.2020
Dear Chapter Member,
the last time I sent out an update I mentioned ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ and hoped that it wasn’t an ‘oncoming train’! There is still light at the end of the tunnel but I’m beginning to think that it is an oncoming train. I hope not, I think we have had all the bad news we can take.
It has been a difficult year so far as regards the Chapter and doing the things we love the most such as riding, group meetings, socialising, trips away etc..etc.. That said, we have managed to salvage a bit of our activity programme and put together some rides, some organised, some ‘Guerrilla’ which have been well supported. These rides have been put together either by myself or by Bridey but hopefully some others will step forward either to arrange a ride or ideas for a ride. I’m sure our excellent Road Crew will be happy to help out. If you have any ideas, contact either Stew, Bridey, Mac or myself. Please keep it to riding with perhaps a meal or drink rather than museums or other indoor events.
We would also love to be able to put together a chapter get-together, with all the safety considerations in mind and we were planning on a BBQ at the Black Horse next week however as you probably know by now, they are remaining closed for the foreseeable future so we will have to find someplace else. Again, if you have any ideas for an outdoor venue such as a park, forest, etc, please let us know. One suggestion has been to have an ‘al fresco’ chapter evening in the car park outside the dealership. We would need to ok this with the dealership first and it would be weather-dependant. We can’t all run inside if it suddenly rains!
By now you would have been made aware that another casualty of the pandemic is the Ride To The Wall in October. I know that this is a ‘must do’ for many of our members and it is a pity it can’t go ahead but there is always next year. Thanks to Geoffers for the work he has done on it and to those who registered either as road crew volunteers or as participants and especially to those who have not asked for a refund. (I would be amazed if anyone did actually request their £10 back!)
Back in June we launched a programme of contacting our fellow chapter members to ensure they we ok, I would urge each and every one of us to reach out to a fellows and check on them from time to time. It takes just one or two calls and can mean a lot to someone who is feeling down, isolated or forgotten.
That is all for now, we will be communicating more information as restrictions are (hopefully) eased further. Remember Breakfast Club on Saturday at the Waterfront Cafe, Wallingford at 9.30.
Keep safe
Ian
