Jake Spicer

 Toy Run

Every year Oxford UK Chapter hold a ride out to the Children’s Hospital at the John Radcliffe to take toys to the poorly children staying there.

For many years now we have done this in memory of Jake Spicer, who sadly passed away in 2009.

Thank you to everyone who bought a Teddy Bear pin for the 2023 Jake Spicer Toy Run or donated their pin to one of the nurses on the children’s ward. Some of the nurses have a full set and are very proud to own them.  Pins were also sent to Michael and Lesley, Jake’s parents.

Our new liaison, for the Children’s Ward at John Radcliffe, Jo Pinney, sent a wish list of toys for the children’s outpatients room; an area that has been neglected and would benefit from additional new toys. On the list were: A Smart Start Galaxy projector; Safari Animals  dinosaur models; Bubble world canon; Baby V-Tech roller; Stack cups; Fidget toys; Spinning top; ten tiny babies book; Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes; On the Farm book; Kitchen cookware; Pop up animals;  Musical Elephant; Rainbow Musical Toy,

It was a privilege to deliver the toys on Monday 18th December and present them to Jo (left) and Emma (right) on behalf of the Chapter. They were delighted and so grateful to our Chapter for the continued support, in Jake’s memory.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2023 ride out in October, we had a great turn out and really appreciate everyone’s support.

SAVE THE DATE! 2024 Toy Run will take place on Sunday 15th September 2024.

2017 Pin

In 2017 a pin was designed and sold, and we raised enough money to buy a Playstation and some games for the children in the hospital.

2018 Pin

We had a new design of pin in 2018, and we raised enough money to buy not one but TWO ovens, so as the children can have cookery lessons.

2019 Pin

Yet again, the team on the Children’s Ward were delighted with the amount we had raised. This year they bought a colourful playmat for younger children to use.

2020 Pin

Unfortunately, due to the Covid pandemic the annual Toy Run did not go ahead. Some pins were sold and the money raised has been carried forward to 2021.

2021 Pin

The 2021 Toy Run pins sold out, thank you to everyone for your support. With the funds raised the hospital bought a large selection of Usbourne Books.
